You can stay with us
Under our house we have a modest but well equipped apartment for 4 (max. 6 beds) guests. It is a quiet location with the fantastic view you see above; over the valley and the ocean.
There is no dishwasher and because it is not intended for long-term habitation there is no washing machine, we are however open to discussing options to meet your needs.

The garden with different levels and a fire-pit are at your disposal. There is an outside seating area to enjoy the view in the morning sun.
For your convenience, we strongly suggest renting a car. While shops and beaches are within reach, having your own transportation is especially helpful due to the area's hilly terrain.
The house is located in a suburban area, surrounded by meadows with cows, goats and sheep. Sound and (sometimes the smell) of the animals are part of this😉

"Nice such a small island, but you've seen it all in no time", well there's plenty to see...
- Whale / dolphin watching, usually a morning or afternoon, depending on the weather, carrier and of course whether animals have been spotted. From approx. €70,- p.p.
- Levada's walk, enjoy a beautiful 7+ km walk from point A to point B, winding through lush forests and open fields. These historic canals, originally designed to collect rainwater, offer a mostly level path. While the terrain is generally easy, there are a few low walls to navigate and a slightly more challenging section in the middle due to erosion. We suggest three options:
- A to midpoint and back
- B to midpoint and back
- The full A to B (or B to A) route.
For the full route, we can arrange return transport to your starting point (depending on group size).
- Botanical garden. You can spend half an hour or a few hours, it's all up to you. Costs a few euros entrance.
- Visit the neighboring islands of Pico and/or São Jorge by Ferry. Full day, return tickets from €7,60,- p.p., car included from €44,60.
- Panorama Caldeira, a visit including the trip up and back easily takes 1 hour but bring a vest, it can be chilly up there.

- Hike around the Caldeira; 6,8km, approx. 3h (in addition to the time mentioned above), bring water, you might need it to stay hydrated.

- Island round trip, part of morning and afternoon with lunch if you like, half way at Rumar.
- Visit / walk at the volcano of Capelinhos, last eruption in 1957 / 1958. There is a visitor center, entrance a few euros. Duration: 0.5 to 2 hours.
- Visit / walk at the Moro, an impressive rock formation, 1 to 2 hours.
- Walk at Poço das Asas. 0,5 to 1,5 hours.
- Panorama from Cabeço Gordo (literal translation: fat head), with 1.043m the highest point of Faial.

- The Peter Sport café, which is world famous amongst sailors. If you like Gin & Tonic, the Gin do mar & Tonic is a must.
- Peter Sport houses to the Scrimshaw "museum", where you can admire a fascinating collection of scrimshaw, featuring engraved teeth and bones from whales, walruses and other creatures.
- A pleasant evening at café Oceanic with a large outdoor area.
- The Horta marina is the most colorful and one of the most important in the world. Many sailors left a visual greeting or message there.

- The old whale factory, where captured sperm whales were once processed, has been transformed into a museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the region's maritime history.
- Beaches of course! The best-known swimming spots are Praia do Almoxarife, Porto Pim, and the natural pools at Varadouro, but there are more places to take a dip.
